This could lead to your customer decent, reducing their trust in you holding onto their personal data as well as a risk and the fallout from a data protection prosecution. There have been many recent examples to refer to and they keep coming.
CRM systems by their nature are rich in data about people and organisation. The level of data can include contact information, communication interactions, financial information and client behaviour. You can only imagine the potential impact to your business of all this data being purloined and it then being exploited.
Recently I was asked to evidence the security of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011. The potential project was to build a case management system which would hold details of criminal behaviour as well as tracking and monitoring the victims. With this level of data the security requirement was about as high as it could possibly be.
To answers questions I like to use examples of where a product or a process is currently in use, this is a “just don’t take my word for it” approach. With this in mind I sought out some high ranking organisations which have recently deployed MS Dynamics 2011 CRM to answer a question of its security, I was amazed at my findings.
In the UK there has been recent deployment of Dynamics 2011 CRM for the Royal Bank of Scotland RBS and South West Water. These are both massive companies with a high level of customer data in which they have researched and trust the Dynamics security.
Then I found that in the USA, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 has been adopted by the Office of the Security of Defence, the Joint Chief of Staff, the Department of Homeland Security as well as over 200 other federal government organisations. If ever I needed examples of organisations that trust the security of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 then this list was certainly a good start.
